GET JOB IN PAKISTAN LEARN CORRECT ENGLISH How do you correct the following sentence, “I have hanged the clothes on the string after washing them.”? How do you correct the following sentence, “I have hanged the clothes on the string after washing them.”? There are these errors: First, unless you’re executing the clothes for murder, you would say  hung , not  hanged . the word “hanged” is only used for death by hanging. All other meanings use “hung”. Second, ‘string’ is the wrong word. A string gives the connotation of something that would be too thin to hold clothes. Third, the verb tenses are a bit off. You start with the present perfect “I have hung” which doesn’t really make sense in this context, because you’re not referencing a different timeframe. Plus “after washing them” doesn’t match the verb tense of the beginning. Try it like this: “I hung the clothes on the line after I washed them.”
